To all our volunteers, our gratitude and thanks for the wonderful support we receive throughout the year!
At UnitingCare Geelong we recognise that the lives of individuals and communities are improved by the positive impact of volunteering. Our volunteer programs bring substantial benefits to both our volunteers and the organisation by:
- Strengthening communities.
- Encouraging individuals to use their skills and learn new things.
- Helping entry or re-entry into the labour market.
- Supporting the agency’s goal to deliver a range of services and programs to disadvantaged and vulnerable people.
We endeavour to provide all our volunteers with good working conditions, on-going training and support. We encourage our volunteers to celebrate birthdays, take holidays and honour family commitments.
We adopt an “open door” policy where volunteers are able to talk to staff freely.
UnitingCare Geelong is implementing ‘best practice’ by adopting the National Standards for volunteers. These Standards provide direction and structure to the way volunteers are managed.
We recognise and value the skills, time and knowledge of our volunteers. We acknowledge this by celebrating National Volunteer Week and by providing morning teas and special lunches.
